Caring for Your EDC Knife and Safe Use

To ensure your EDC knife remains in optimal condition and to use it safely, follow these guidelines:

  1. Keep it clean and dry: Clean the knife when needed with soft cloth or your favorite knife cleaner. Be careful when working near the sharpened edge, cleaning away from the sharpened edge and not towards the edge.

  2. Oil the blade: Regularly apply a thin coat of oil to the blade to prevent rust and corrosion. Use a light machine oil or a specific knife lubricant.

  3. Store it properly: Store your knife in a dry place, away from moisture. Consider using a sheath or pouch to protect the blade from damage.

  4. Sharpen the blade: Keep the blade sharp for optimal performance. Use a sharpening stone or a knife sharpener to maintain a sharp edge.

  5. Avoid using it as a tool: While knives are versatile, avoid using them for tasks they are not designed for, such as prying and using them as a screwdriver.

  6. Avoid cutting hard objects: Never use the cutting edge of the knife to cut hard objects such as rocks, glass, steel tubes, etc. This can damage the blade and lead to a loss of cutting performance.

  7. Inspect for damage: Regularly inspect your knife for any signs of damage, such as loose screws or chips in the blade. Repair or replace damaged parts as needed.
